Privacy policy

TibQuiz is run by the volunteer team of Tibetan Events Worldwide ("we"), with team members in Switzerland and the United States, for players and creators everywhere in the world. It is not a registered organisation or company. You can reach us at info@tibquiz.com. We follow the privacy laws that apply to our users, including the Swiss Data Protection Act, the EU and UK GDPR and US state laws such as the California CCPA. We collect as little as possible, never sell data and never use advertising or tracking. Sponsor logos are plain pictures stored with us and do not track you.

Players: no account needed

To play, you only type a nickname. We store that nickname, your answers and your score for the game, so the host can see the results. Please use a first name or a nickname, not your full name. We do not ask for an email, a phone number or your location. Your phone keeps a small key so you can continue if the connection drops.

Creators: your account

For an account we store your name, email address and password (the password only in encrypted form). We store the quizzes, photos, games and results you create. Your quizzes are private until you publish them as public. In the public quiz bank your name is never shown.

Contact form

We store your name, email and message only to answer you.

Cookies and storage

We only use what is needed for TibQuiz to work: a login cookie for creators, and small saved settings on your device (for example, the key to rejoin a game, or whether music is on). No tracking cookies and no analytics services.

Sponsors

TibQuiz is free thanks to sponsors. A sponsor logo may be shown on the host screen or in the quiz bank. Logos are plain images stored with us; they set no cookies and send nothing to the sponsor.

Where data is stored

Quizzes, games and photos are stored with our database provider (Supabase) and the site is hosted by Hostinger. Both may use servers in the United States and the European Union. Your data is protected in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

How long we keep data

Game results stay with the host's account so they can look at them later. Contact messages are deleted once answered. If you delete your account, your quizzes, photos and games are deleted with it.

Children

Players of any age can join a game with a nickname, since we collect no personal data from players. Creating an account requires an age of 16 or older. Teachers and parents host the games for younger children.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us which data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Write to info@tibquiz.com and we will answer within 30 days. You may also complain to the data protection authority of your country.

We may update this policy; the current version is always on this page.
